February saw our first show of 2011 – The Third Thursday Event. Thanks to Suzanne and everyone from Jelly who helped make this possible. We loved having our very own shop for a few weeks.

May was the annual Caversham Arts Trail with 16 venues and 32 local artists taking part in our annual arts trail. We had excellent visitor numbers and are already busy planning the trail for 2012.

September was our autumn show at Caversham Court Gardens. This was our first outdoor show which we did enjoy, despite the unpredictable autumn weather.

October & November we had a Caversham Artists show at More Arts Twyford.

You are welcome to browse, there is no obligation to buy. It’s free admission so you can come back as many times as you want until we close at 5pm on 6th December.

The full address is The Old Fire Station Gallery, Market Place, Henley on Thames, RG9 2AG. There is a pay and display car park almost opposite and the gallery is situated just behind the Town Hall. Look out for the red ‘Exhibition’ Sign outside.

We are pleased to have some new guest artists joining us for this show. We welcome Beverly Bartlett, Sarah Pye, Brenda Graham and Celeste Kelly.

The show will open daily from 10am to 5pm and until 8pm on Thursday 1st December where you can enjoy a glass of wine with the artists.

This Christmas show is running in association with Reveal. Reveal has been supporting high quality local handmade Art and Craft for the past three years. See previous shows here.

Caversham Artists regularly exhibits work by more than 20 local artists and craftsmen covering a wide range of styles as well as prices.  We currently have a show at More Arts Twyford which is on until 27th November.  The gallery is open from 4-8pm Fridays and 12-4pm Saturdays and Sundays.

How about visiting some of the Caversham Artists at Aunt Elsie’s Christmas Do at Jelly / Coopers Arms, Reading – 26th November 2011.

We can also confirm that our Caversham Artists Christmas Show is going to take place at the Old Fire Station Gallery in Henley-on-Thames from 1st to 6th December 2011.

Details of our Christmas show coming soon!

We are also very excited to announce that Caversham Artists Nicola Duncan, Julie Simmonds, Peter Quarmby and Roger Smalley will be taking part in the opening exhibition of the  More Arts Twyford Gallery along with other local artists. The show starts on 23rd September and runs until 23rd October.  This will be the first show at the new gallery space located at 20 Station Road, Twyford, RG10 9NT. The show is open Fridays 4pm-8pm and 12pm to 4pm Saturdays and Sundays.

17th September 2011. Join us at Caversham Court from 10am to 4:30pm.

As an ongoing commitment to encouraging budding artists young and old in Caversham, Caversham Artists are holding a one day art and plant sale in Caversham Court. These wonderful gardens in the heart of the village, present a perfect backdrop for our art, much of which is inspired by natural forms. Work will be on display and available for sale.

Artists and guest artists include: Nina Krauzewicz, Mary Phelan, Charles Burns,  Therese Wicks, Matthew Hitch , Louise Spiers, Julie Simmonds, Lauren Denney, Claire Elmes, Maureen Futter and members of Pangbourne Art Group, Salvo Toscano, Caversham Globe, Debbie Page and New Directions pottery.

Also displays by local art and environment groups will combine to make the day a celebration of local creativity. Proceeds from the Tea Kiosk will go to The Duchess of Kent Hospice charity.

As exhibitors we loved meeting people who appreciated our art, talking techniques and opening our studios, homes and gardens for everyone to enjoy. We hope this has given you an insight into how many creative people live and work in Caversham. We are also pleased to share that we raised £187 for the King’s Meadow Baths campaign.

If you want to see more art,  or missed the Caversham Arts Trail don’t despair as this weekend, 28th to 30th May is the Henley Arts Trail. There will be 23 venues in and around Henley, all with free admission. Caversham Arts Trail gives you the opportunity to visit local  artists, designers and makers in their studios, homes and gardens. With over 30 artists participating this year there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

MUG SHOTS:  Do you have a favorite tea or coffee cup? You know… the one you choose over all others when the cupboard is full. Caversham Arts Trail artist, Matthew Keeler at Venue number 5, is looking for people to participate in his next project.  Matthew wants to produce a series of small portraits of people with their favorite tea or coffee cup. These will be exhibited during next years Caversham Arts Trail. Anyone interested in taking part in the project, please contact Matthew for further details via emailme@matthewkeeler.co.uk.

We are pleased to announce that we will be collecting donations and raising awareness for the King’s Meadow Baths.  The baths will be open from 11am to 5pm on 13th, 14th and 15th May where you will get to see the baths in all their glory  as  well as  future plans. Check their website for more information on the campaign and how you can get involved in this local treasure.

Venue 12 will  hold a collection of various artist work as well as a display from the King’s Meadow Baths and a display entitled Caversham 100 years on. The opening of venue 12 will take place at 10.30am on 7th May, please come along, see details here.
